Episode 9 - Peter Aguero

Storytelling mastermind Peter Aguero joins the LWL podcast for a long overdue episode to talk about pets, death, love and getting up in front of an audience and doing what one loves best. Both Dave and I apologize in advance but we had a major audio issue with this particular episode and, thanks to the amazing Nikki Knickers, we were able to salvage it but the episode is, as a result, a bit quiet. Be sure to turn up the volume and get comfortable - this is a wonderful interview and I hope you like it, low volume and all!

I give several minutes in the intro to Dixie Evans Week, a group of burlesque performers, producers and organizers who banded together to celebrate the godmother of modern burlesque. Dixie passed away last year and they need your help in order to lay her to rest at the Westwood Cemetery alongside Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page and a veritable cavalcade of Hollywood stars. If you want to support, you have until January 31st to give what you can! Donations can be made to our YouCaring Fund drive page, http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/the-dixie-evans-week/69465

EPISODE 5 - Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer

Here it is - our final episode from 2013! I'm thrilled to bring you Mr. B for today's episode, a good friend and brilliant performer based in the UK. This is by far the most musical of the episodes, in fact we begin straight out with one of his funnier and, um, more graphic songs... To learn more about Mr. B, please visit his website at gentlemanrhymer.com.

Here's to a happy and healthy new year, folks!! See you on the flipside...

EPISODE 4 - Perle Noire

Perle Noire, The Rare Gem of Burlesque herself joins us for an honest, loving and prosecco-fueled conversation. From New Orleans to NYC, Perle serves us a whole lot of truth.

You'll hear some screaming children in the background - don't worry, they're not ours. Donate to the podcast so we can get some sound-muffling curtains for recording so the carefree screams of children playing in the hallway will be a thing of the past.

EPISODE 3 - Jo Boobs Weldon

I am thrilled to post my interview today with the amazing Jo Boobs Weldon, founder and Headmistress at the New York School of Burlesque. Jo has one of the most colorful life histories I know of and we oh so gently skim the surface of her sex work, her dedicated sex work activism, what it feels like to be singled out by Bill O'Reilly on FOX News, how she got her name and plenty more. We meander and skip from topic to topic so feel free to flow along with us and be sure to check out her website, well-informed wikipedia page and recommended website for all things pro-sex work advocacy below.

EPISODE TWO - featuring Allison Kave

WARNING - your mouth may water as much as mine does during the interview. This week's episode features the amazing, talented and ridiculously smart baker/entrepreneur Allison Kave. Owner and head pie genius at First Prize Pies, Allison is also one half of Butter & Scotch (with partner Keavy Landreth) and thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, they will be opening Brooklyn's first Craft Cocktail and Dessert Bar in 2014. In addition to discussing her upcoming cookbook First Prize Pies (to be released on March 14, 2014 by Stewart Tabori & Chang,) Allison and I talk about having famous brothers respectively and how hers had a close brush with death thanks to an Asian hornet sting while traveling around Vietnam.

Due to a sound issue, the podcast we were planning on posting today got shifted back so despite my saying that this is episode 5, it is indeed episode 2. We're still getting on our feet here at Lunch With Legs so please be patient with us as we get used to this new-fangled stuff...
